Bushrod Hughes

Bushrod Hughes
Bushrod Washington Hughes was born April 10, 1860 in DuPage Co.  He was the twelfth child of Bushrod W. and Sarah Hughes.  He graduated from the country school, and attended two years at Naperville College.  He married Caroline Corel on February 5, 1891, who, with their two children, Mabel Irene and Clarence Jacob, survive.
Four years ago in February, Mr. Hughes was taken with pneumonia and lay in the balance for nearly three months, resulting in a physical break from which he never fully recovered.  Six months ago he was taken down with the Flu and steadily declined until on September first he bade farewell to earth and friends and passed into the great beyond.
Bush Hughes, as he was familiarly known, was a devoted husband and father, a thorough-going neighbor and friend, a workman who had no need to be ashamed.  He was loved by youth and adults alike.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for twenty-two years, twelve years of which he was treasurer of the Sunday School.
The last epitaph one could write would be the similarity in the remarks of his friends which when analyzed is; "Bush was a good fellow."
The funeral was held at the home on Loomis street at 1:30 p.m. and at the Methodist church at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11th, his pastor, the Rev. C.F. Kleihauser, officiating.  The many relatives and friends filled the church to do honor to his blessed memory.  Interment was in the family plot in the beautiful Naperville Cemetery.
