Mrs. George Yost

Amelia Stenger Yost was born in Naperville, Illinois, December 5, 1858, and died at her home in Naperville October 14, 1925, after a long illness.  On July 27, 1877, she was united in marriage to George A. Yost, the Rev. William Gazely performing the marriage ceremony.  In the fall of the same year she and Mr. Yost were both converted in a protracted meeting and joined the church.  For many years they were active members of the Salem Evangelical Church.

Although handicapped by deafness and unable to enter into community affairs as she wanted to, Mrs. Yost gave herself in loving and self-sacrificing devotion to her family.  In these days when parental neglect and carelessness and indifference are so common, it is indeed refreshing to find one who, like Mrs. Yost, was such a good wife and noble mother.

She leaves to mourn her loss, here husband, Mrs. George A. Yost, three children, Grant, Grace, and Mrs. Elizabeth Ballou, three grand children and a host of friends and relatives who will miss her as a good neighbor and a loyal friend.

"Servant of God, well done!  Thy glorious warfare's past. The battle's fought, the victory's won and though art crowned at last."

Funeral service was held at the home October 16 at 3 P.M.  Interment in the Naperville cemetery. Rev. Earl F. Collins was the officiating clergyman.
